The Dearborn Police Department is seeking the public’s help identifying occupants of a gold or silver Ford Explorer believed to be involved in a non-fatal shooting outside Benihana Restaurant about 9 p.m. Aug. 21.

DEARBORN – The Police Department is urging the community to come forward with any information that can help identify the occupants of a Ford Explorer believed to be involved in a non-fatal shooting outside Benihana Restaurant the night of Aug. 21.

About 9 p.m., police officers responded to reports of gunfire on the 18000 block of Hubbard Drive near Fairlane Town Center. A police investigation determined that the occupants of a gold or silver Ford Explorer fired nearly 20 rounds of varying calibers at a group of people gathered near their vehicles in the parking lot of the restaurant.

Two people sustained gunshot wounds and were treated at an area hospital where they are expected to make a full recovery. The identities of the victims are being withheld as the investigation is still ongoing.

“Our officers secured the area almost immediately following reports of gunshots, and we do not believe there to be a threat of danger to the broader public at this point,” Police Chief Issa Shahin said. “The Dearborn Police Department will aggressively investigate this violent crime and utilize all available resources to identify those involved. We are urging anyone with information to please come forward.”

CrimeStoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this incident.
