Man scares would-be thief off ladder

March 20, 2010 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

TRENTON — Two houses in the 1500 block of Westfield caught the attention of would-be thieves Feb. 27.

About 12:30 a.m., a man called police after he and his wife heard noises around the house and looked out his window and saw a man on a ladder.

The man then jumped off the ladder and ran. Officers found fresh footprints in the snow in two directions.

Upon searching the area, they found that another house two doors north of the caller’s house had been broken into.

At the second house officers found drawers and closets open and their contents left out and the front door unlocked. Police were unable to reach the owner of the second house and are unsure if anything was taken.

Damage to a window screen at the caller’s house is estimated at $60.
