Trenton
Man swings shovel at neighbor
A neighborhood dispute finally came to a head last week when a resident of Margrette was arrested for swinging a snow shovel at his neighbor.

The alleged attacker has had an ongoing feud with his neighbor, and the shovel-swinging incident was the third time two days that reports were filed with police.

The first was filed by the neighbor’s wife, who said she found dog feces just before 3 p.m. March 11 in the spot on her driveway where she parks her vehicle. She said the alleged attacker yelled threats at her while she was picking up the feces.

In the second report, the neighbor was letting his dogs out about 8 p.m. March 11 when he heard something strike his door. He then looked down and found an ice cube on the concrete near his back door.

Finally, the neighbor said he was putting trash into a container and had rested the lid briefly against the alleged attacker’s fence. The man then swung the shovel, knocking the garbage can lid shut, and swung the shovel at least two more times, nearly hitting the neighbor in the head.

Police found marks on the fence near the garbage can and arrested the alleged attacker, who told them he was “only defending his property,” and that they couldn’t arrest him because he was taking care of his elderly mother.

Police arrested the man and enlisted his son to look after the mother, who was asleep inside the alleged attacker’s house.

High school descreened
Seven 44-inch-by-60-inch window screens were taken from the east side of Trenton High School, 2601 Charlton, between 3 p.m. March 10 and 7:45 a.m. March 11.
