TAYLOR — The sixth annual Kids Fish ’N’ Fun Day is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Coan Lake in Heritage Park, 12111 Pardee Road.
The event is presented by Wayne County Community College District’s School of Continuing Education in partnership with the city’s Department of Golf, Parks and Recreation and Gander Mountain.
Registration is at the Taylor Community Library, 12303 Pardee Road.
Organizers say the purpose of the community event is to bring practical information and hands-on instruction about fishing and water safety to young people ages 7 to 12.
A certificate of completion will be awarded to all children who participate. Topics covered will include identifying specific fish, where to look for fish, your tackle box and proper casting techniques. The first 100 kids to register will receive a free hat and T-shirt.
The University of Michigan Big Ten Fishing Team will be on site to speak and fish with participants. Representatives from the Department of Natural Recourses will also be in attendance promoting youth fishing licenses.
