Taylor city officials joined teachers and students at Blair Moody Elementary and West Middle schools for the city’s annual Arbor Day tree plantings April 30. Mayor Jeffrey Lamarand and City Clerk Mary Ann Rilley along with representatives from Johnson Matthey Testing helped plant a Kwanzan Cherry Tree — commonly referred to as a Japanese flowering cherry tree — with the West Middle School Ecology Club and school officials. Johnson Mathey donated trees to both schools. Lamarand also donated a new American flag to the West Middle School, and members of the school band and Cardinal Singers performed.
