Golf tournament to raise funds for junior series

May 15, 2010 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

TAYLOR — The third annual Andy Gerick Memorial Golf Outing is scheduled for July 18 at Rolling Meadows Country Club in Whitmore Lake.

The event, held in memory of the late Andy Gerick, a long-time supporter and former official scorekeeper for the Junior League World Series in Taylor, raises funds for the event.

The four-man scramble begins with check-in and lunch at 12:30 p.m. The event also includes 18 holes of golf, dinner, skins and prizes. Players are advised to bring a small cooler, as tournament organizers also supply pop and beer.

The entry fee is $90 per player. Hole sponsors are needed as well. The cost is $100 per hole, which is tax deductible.

To register, sponsor a hole or donate a door prize, contact Greg Bzura at (734) 306-3113 or [email protected] or Ken Beheler at (313) 930-4480 or [email protected].

All proceeds benefit the Junior League World Series, a tournament for the top teams of 13- and 14-year-old baseball players from around the world. The 30th annual World Series takes place the week of Aug. 15 at Heritage Park.
