Ballet Americana’s ‘Nutcracker’ returns

November 27, 2010 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

The holidays are not complete without the production of “The Nutcracker” by Taylor’s Ballet Americana with the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra.

This year’s 30th annual performances are scheduled for Dec. 3 and 4 at the Michael A. Guido Theater inside the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center at 15801 Michigan Ave., Dearborn.

Performance times are 8 p.m. Friday and 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday.

Ballet Americana’s “Nutcracker” boasts what producers say are enchanting characters, lavish costumes and sets, world-class dancing and a heart-warming Tchaikovsky score accompanied by the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra. Follow the adventures of Clara and her Prince as they battle the evil Mouse King and travel to the magnificent Land of the Sweets, where the graceful Sugarplum Fairy reigns. “The Nutcracker” is a favorite for the whole family, producers add.

The artistic directors are Patricia Squire Lorenz and Leif Lorenz. Charles Burke is conductor of the DSO.

Ticket prices range from $12 to $24. Call (313) 943-2354 or order online at www.dearborntheater.com.
