TAYLOR — Realizing a dream first envisioned two years ago, the PAWS Clinic, 21290 Goddard, will host a grand opening and open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Kris Jordan, Executive Director of the non-profit, low-cost spaying and neutering facility, invites the community to meet the staff and tour the clinic.
The PAWS Clinic began with the Precious Animals Welfare Society of Michigan, a Riverview-based nonprofit rescue organization. Jordan, a longtime volunteer with P.A.W.S., was inspired to build an affordable pet sterilization clinic modeled after the Humane Alliance efforts based out of North Carolina. Start-up funding for the clinic was made possible by P.A.W.S., PetSmart Charities and Pepsi’s Refresh the World program.
The Clinic opened Monday, and offers low-cost procedures, starting at $45 for cats and $80 for dogs up to 80 pounds.
Volunteer opportunities remain, and potential help is welcome to attend Saturday’s open house for more information. Contact the Clinic at (313) 550-0727 or visit www.thepawsclinic.com. The PAWS Clinic is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
