TRENTON — The people at the nonprofit animal rescue agency Basil’s Buddies wonder who has Downriver’s most “Pawsitively Cute Pet” as they host their first photo contest fund-raiser.

Basil’s Buddies, founded in January 2009, is accepting entries until Friday, and will display 4 x 6 photos of each submitted dog or cat at the St. Cyprian Church Earth Day event June 9 in Riverview.

Votes will be cast with contributions to the cause in jars beneath the cute pet photos.

Basil’s Buddies chairwoman Patti Radakovich said that winning pets will be awarded prizes of up to $50 in value, given to the top three dog and cat vote recipients: First place receives a $50 gift certificate to Feed Rite, second place a free $25 microchip implant at Basil’s Buddies, and third place offers $10 off the microchip process.

Judges also will award a “most unusual” pet prize, and the winner will receive a free pet communication session with Petra the Pet Communicator.

Submissions of a 4 x 6 photo and $10 entry fee must be received by June 1 at Basil’s Buddies, P.O. Box 782, Trenton, MI, 48183. More details on the contest and Basil’s Buddies is available at www.basilsbuddies.org or at 734-926-1098.

Basil’s Buddies is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization dedicated to providing no-kill rescue, treat special needs animals and senior pets. Basil’s Buddies offers a pet food bank for low-income individuals, operates monthly low-cost vaccine clinics and a monthly pet loss support group.
