Columbus ship replicas to dock in Wyandotte

June 16, 2012 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

WYANDOTTE – Two of explorer Christopher Columbus’ famed ships will dock at Bishop Park July 6.

Replicas of the Nina and the Pinta will dock at the park until July 9, part of British Virgin Islands-based The Columbus Foundation’s “sailing museum,” to educate the public on the caravel-style ships Columbus and many other explorers used, a press release said.

The ships will be available for self-guided on-board tours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Prices are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $6 for students 5 to 18. Children 4 and under are free.

The exhibit is pending City Council approval, expected at its meeting Monday.

Thirty-minute group tours with a crew member are available for groups with 15 or more people. Go to www.thenina.com for more information.
