Wayne County sponsors Household Hazardous Waste Day Oct. 13

Wayne County residents are invited to participate in a free Household Hazardous Waste Day event 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Southland Shopping Center, Eureka and Pardee roads in Taylor.

The event is sponsored by Wayne County. Proof of residency could be requested. Enter off of Pardee near the Target store.

Residents safely can dispose of materials that should not be placed at the curb for collection.

Only household items will be accepted. A partial list of acceptable materials includes household paints, floor wax, furniture polish, bathroom cleaners, fertilizers and lawn chemicals, antifreeze, automotive batteries, and mercury
thermometers.

The site will also accept electronics, such as computers, scanners and keyboards, cell phones and televisions. Not accepted are microwaves and refrigerators or other appliances.
