One of the main fights on the upcoming professional boxing card Feb. 23 at Masonic Temple Theater in Detroit includes J’Leon Love of Dearborn Heights.

Love, who is a 25-year-old hot ring prospect, has an impressive 14-0 record eight 8 knockouts. The kid from the Heights will take on former World Champion Bronco McKart (54-10-1 with 32 KO’s) who is from nearby Monroe. McKart is 41 years old and nearing the end of his fighting career.

This featured bout, only a few weeks away, has all the makings of an all-Michigan 10-round middelweight battle. The bout is one of two that is scheduled to be televised across the country live on Showtime Extreme (7 p.m. ET/PT, with West Coast delay).

Love is a former amateur star who earned a 115-5 record. He has taken his boxing game to a much higher level within the sport of boxing. Can the hometown newcomer find a way to beat McKart, a crafty southpaw who still looks good in the ring?

Boxing fans who hail from the greater Dearborn/Dearborn Heights and Downriver areas, will find out the answer on Feb. 23, when these two pugalists put up their dukes for real. A good crowd of fight fans is expected to be in attendance.

It has been said that Love has an intriguing mix of speed, power and style in the ring. He will need all of those skills and more when he meets McKart inside the ring later this month.

The boxing event is being presented by Golden Boy Promotions of Los Angeles and Mayweather Promotions of Las Vegas. Tickets range from $25 to $200, and are available at the Masonic Temple box office.
