HEIGHTS — Police are searching for a man who robbed Little Caesars, 25320 Van Born Road, of approximately $150 in cash just after 6 p.m. Jan. 11.

According to the police report, the man entered the restaurant, approached the cash registers and said, “Give me all your money. I have a gun, it’s not a joke.” The man also told two customers in the store to “sit down and be quiet” during the robbery.

An employee complied and emptied the contents of the register, after which the man demanded that the other two registers be opened and emptied as well. A manager assisted the employee by opening the other registers.

After receiving the money, the man concealed it and fled out of the west door.

The father of one of the witnesses in the restaurant was waiting inside his vehicle and told police he saw the robber run out the door and into the parking lot of the bar next door, where he got into a dark-colored vehicle — possibly a Pontiac Grand Prix — and fled west on Van Born.

Employees told police after the incident that they believe the man, who implied that he was carrying a firearm, was unarmed and using his finger to give the impression of having a handgun.

The man was described as white, 6 feet tall about 200 pounds wearing a gray sweater, blue jeans and brown hiking boots. He also had a gray scarf over his face as he entered the restaurant and wore gloves throughout the incident.

Employees gave police surveillance footage of the incident.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Police Department at 313-277-6770.
