Investigation continues on two suspicious fires

TAYLOR — Police and fire investigators last week continued looking into a pair of house fires considered to be suspicious, although Fire Marshal John Hager said there was no evidence they were related.

“It doesn’t look like there’s any connection,” Hager said.

A couple of miles and several days separated the two events: A June 10 house fire in the 1100 block of Jackson Street, and a June 19 blaze in the 15500 block.

Hager responded to the second fire, which he said collapsed the roof of an unoccupied house that had been undergoing repairs from a previous fire.

A third fire at a house in the 6900 block of Ziegler in the same period reportedly was determined to have been caused by faulty wiring.

Both of the Jackson Street fires remained under investigation, Hager said Thursday, both on site and with ongoing interviews.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fire Department at 734-374-1660.
