TAYLOR — Police are investigating a crash that left a 14-year-old girl with traumatic head injuries after she was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle.

Police Chief Mary Sclabassi said Octavia James remained under treatment at Children’s Hospital of Michigan after being struck on June 27 while riding near the intersection of Hayes and Tulane.

“She has pretty serious head injuries,” Sclabassi said. “She’s been through surgery and will have a long road ahead of her.”

Sclabassi said investigators obtained descriptions of suspect vehicles that were in the neighborhood when the incident happened, and are investigating. The girl was reportedly hit by the vehicle and had struck the windshield before falling to the road.

Anyone with information is asked to call Taylor police at 734-287-6611.
