Mohammad Fakih (left), Blake Rye (third from right) and Zachary Rye get an up close look at Dearborn Police K-9 Officer Shadow during the Dearborn Police Department’s National Night Out Aug. 5. Shadow’s human partner, Dearborn Police K-9 Unit Cpl. Mark Farnham (right) tells the crowd about the animal, a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois with more than two years spent in service. As part of the National Night Out, several groups inside the DPD, including the K-9 Unit, Bomb Squad and SWAT Team set up displays of their equipment in the department’s parking lot and answered questions from visitors.
