Southeast Michigan came to a virtual standstill last week as up to a record six inches of rain fell in less than 36 hours, causing even more record flooding. The average Michigan montly August rainfall is approximately three inches. Top, an abandoned vehicle sits up to its windows in water on Schaefer Road under Rotunda Drive; above Southfield Road under Outer Drive at the Allen Park-Dearborn-Dearborn Heights border is covered by almost 13 feet of water; and below flooding reached front doors in the 24000 block of Hanover and much of south Dearborn Heights.
