Taylor police waiting out barricaded gunman

Photo by James Mitchell Taylor police, the Downriver Mutual Aid SWAT team, state police and other agencies continue a standoff with a barricaded gunman on Wick Road near Westlake today. Police Chief Mary Sclabassi said communications with the man — believed to be alone — had been ongoing for more than eight hours. "Right now we're trying to re-engage him," Sclabassi said at noon. Police continued efforts to get the man to surrender, and Sclabassi said it had been several hours since any gunshots had been heard from the house.
