DEARBORN — Joe’s Top Dog will begin its new Jazz Fridays series on March 13, featuring live jazz music at the restaurant.

The first Friday of the series will feature the Rich Michaels Trio including Chuck Shermataro on keyboard, Ray Tini on bass and Rich Michaels drums with special guest Johnny Trudell on trumpet.

The family owned Coney Island and bar, open since 1982, wanted to being something special to the city.

“We wanted to bring something forward to east Dearborn and we had the opportunity to do it and here we are,” co-owner Zoja Bojovic said.

Bands and performers will be based on the availability of the group, with the possibility of different bands performing.

There is no set date for how long the series will run, but Bojovic hopes it becomes popular event.

“We’re hoping it runs for a very long time,” she said.

The weekly event is free and open to the public at the restaurant 13342 Michigan Ave.
