HEIGHTS — Police are investigating a homicide in a house in the 25700 block of Hopkins Street where a man was shot and killed.

The homeowner discovered the body at 11 a.m. on Feb. 4 and called police. He said the victim was visiting the house when he was shot by another man.

The shooter fled the house on a bicycle, crossing Beech Daly one block away and into a house on Lehigh Street in Inkster, police said.

Officers arrived to the Inkster house where they launched tear gas canisters inside attempting to catch the suspect. Police submitted a search warrant to enter the house and begin their investigation. A SWAT tank was parked at the scene.

Investigators are looking at the incident as a result of a drug deal gone wrong.

Police did not release the identity of the victim or any suspect information as of publication.
