TAYLOR – Mayor Rick Sollars announced his bid for a second term during his State of the City Address.
Sollars said he was proud of the city and the residents
“We have incredibly dedicated residents, employees and elected officials that care deeply about the rebirth of our great city,” Sollars said in the speech.
He said there has been a lot of progress during the past several years as the community works together to create a safe, sustainable environment that offers opportunity for a great quality of life for residents.
The lifelong resident made the announcement Feb. 23 at the Taylor Rotary Club meeting at the Lakes of Taylor Golf Course.
In addition to mentioning how he inherited a $5 million deficit and now the city has a $5.4 million unassigned surplus, he said he has his eye on fixing potholes and increasing the city’s bond rating. Sollars also addressed adding personnel to the city’s fire and police departments.
Sollars said he is honored to serve as mayor since 2013 and looks forward to opportunity to continue to serve as mayor.
