TAYLOR – Kinyon Elementary School was on a lockdown today and West Middle School was in secure mode after shots were reportedly fired near the schools about 1 p.m.

There was a disturbance by two people living at a house in the vicinity. Shots were fired and both people reportedly fled.

Police said about 3 p.m. they cleared the scene. Earlier in the day, a police spokesman denied anything was wrong.

According to residents, several police were in the area attempting to find a person. One neighbor reported hearing police say, “Come out with your hands up.”

Kinyon Elementary is at 10455 Monroe and West is at 10575 William St.

A text was sent to some of the Kinyon parents explaining the schools were on lockdown. Other parents reported they received no text.
