Taylor’s Good to Great Neighborhood program is beginning work in Area 20, which includes the neighborhoods between Pennsylvania, Eureka, Inkster, and Beech Daly roads.
TAYLOR — The fourth year of the city’s Good to Great Neighborhood program is beginning and the immediate target is Area 20, which includes the neighborhoods between Pennsylvania, Eureka, Inkster, and Beech Daly roads. Introductory letters were mailed to residents in the area this week.
Meanwhile, there is still concrete and asphalt work being done in Area 16, near Taylor Parks Elementary School and Jaycee Park.
Good to Great focuses on making enhancements such as beautification, parks, signage, trees, utilities, roads, catch basins, neighborhood businesses, LED lighting, blight removal, sewer maintenance and even public safety. The goal is neighborhood improvement and compliance.

As part of this program, Taylor police will hold a meet-and-greet session with residents at 5 p.m. May 18 at the corner of Leroy and Kerstyn streets This is an opportunity for residents to meet and interact with the police officers and get a better understanding of the safety concerns in the area.
G2G will offer free mulch for property enhancement. The city of has free mulch in the dead ends of Stacey, Wellington, Sandee and McGuire streets. Mulch will be kept there as long as it is being used, during the program.
G2G also offers a discount tree program for replacements or additions of trees in the easement (between sidewalk and street). The city installs them in a bed of soft-edge mulch and provides a slow release watering bag per tree.
Anyone interested in more information on the discount easement tree program should email [email protected] and title it “tree program.” While this program is focused on the current G2G neighborhoods, the city may be able to deal with requests from property owners in other parts of the community.
