People pray during the annual National Day or Prayer May 6 at Cameron G. Priebe Plaza directly in front of the police station in Taylor. The annual day includes religious leaders, elected officials, community members and public safety officials who offer prayers during the observance. Communities around the country unite to observe the day on the first Thursday in May since it was proclaimed in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan.
