Two 120-foot towers at McLouth site demolished

July 2, 2021 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

TRENTON — Two 120-foot towers at the former McLouth Steel site were demolished June 22.

The towers, called “stoves,” provided heat to the steel mill’s blast furnaces, according to MSC Land Co. LLC, which acquired the site in 2018.

MSC Land has invested more than $20 million into the demolition of all the structures on the former steel mill site, according to published reports.

“From the day we acquired this site, we knew it would be a tremendous undertaking and require a significant investment, but we were committed to getting this work done and doing it right,” said Matthew Moroun, owner of MSC Holdings Co.
