WYANDOTTE — A 19-year-old Lincoln Park man was arrested at Captain’s Bar, 126 Oak St., on July 28 when he tried to use fraudulent identification to purchase alcohol.

The bar recently implemented a three-step process to combat underage drinking. First, an employee visually scans the identification. Secondly, the card is electronically scanned to ensure authenticity. Thirdly, the barcode is verified using a digital application.

Deputy Police Chief Archie Hamilton said the process is effective, as it detected an underage drinking attempt with a fake ID within hours of being implemented.
