WYANDOTTE — A drunken Trenton man who was trying to find his way home was arrested Nov. 12 in Wyandotte for operating while intoxicated, with a high blood-alcohol content, after a police officer saw him driving erratically on Biddle Avenue.
The man, who refused to answer questions or perform standard field sobriety tests following a traffic stop, had watery, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and smelled strongly of intoxicants.
He thought he was on Fort Street when he was, in fact, on Biddle Avenue.
The man was taken into custody, and a record check showed a prior alcohol arrest within the past seven years.
His vehicle was impounded and towed, and his metal license plate confiscated and replaced with a temporary paper plate.
A preliminary breath test was administered, and the man had a blood-alcohol content of 0.18, more than twice the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan. He was searched, booked and held.
