TRENTON — A resident told police of an attempt by a caller to swindle him out of money Oct. 26.

The man said he received a phone call from Washington and was told there was fraudulent spending on his checking account. When the caller told the man to purchase Google Play gift cards to cover the cost, the man hung up and contacted his bank.

The man said he didn’t give out any credit card information, but canceled it before any transactions were made. He blocked the phone number from Washington and was advised to notify his bank if there is any suspicious activity on his accounts.

No other information was provided in the report.
