WYANDOTTE — A man who tried to shoplift a pizza roll and Red Bull on Nov. 11 from 7-Eleven, 2822 Biddle Ave., provided police with a false name, which eventually led to more charges.

The man, who said he had just been discharged from the hospital after falling the day before, while intoxicated, claimed he didn’t have any cash on him.

He was cited for retail fraud and released at the scene, after being banned from the store.

Later, when the police officer was writing his report, he discovered that the name the man gave to him was false. He and another officer then went looking for the man, and found him near Eureka and Biddle, with an open wine bottle.

He was taken into custody and charged with retail fraud, fraudulent schemes and possession of open alcohol.
