TAYLOR — Police responded to Dick’s Sporting Goods, 23359 Eureka, Nov. 18 for a shoplifting in progress.
Dispatch advised that a man and woman had stolen over $1,000 in merchandise from the store and were attempting to leave in an older model white Ford Explorer.
Once on the scene, police checked eastbound Eureka from I-75 to the store but the Explorer was gone and was also not in the parking lot. The store manager said he observed two men and the woman take the items.
According to the report, both the woman and the second man pushed their cart past the checkout area without paying for the items and the man loaded the items into the Explorer.
The first man was driving the Explorer, which didn’t have a license plate. Then, the two men left the parking lot without the woman. Once the woman left the store, the Explorer returned to the parking lot and picked her up.
The first man was described as black, wearing tan pants and a tan vest; the second was described as black, wearing tan pants, a gray hoodie and a dark colored beanie hat. The woman was described as black, wearing a black jacket, gray pants and had a dark colored purse.
The Explorer was last seen driving east on Eureka. The manager told police the store would like to press charges if the thieves were caught.
The manager did not have an itemized list of merchandise that was stolen, only that multiple jackets worth approximately $1,000 were stolen.
Police reviewed an interior security camera and observed the thieves leaving the store with the full cart. Police told the manager to drop off an itemized list for the stolen items as well as a copy of the security camera video to the police department.
The manager was provided with a report number for the incident.
