WYANDOTTE — A drunken driver swerving south on Fort Street near Eureka Road at 12:25 a.m. Nov. 17 drew the attention of police officers when he forgot to turn on his vehicle headlights.
The driver, a 21-year-old Saginaw man, identified himself during the traffic stop with a Michigan identification card. It was later learned that his driver’s license was suspended.
He smelled of intoxicants, his eyes were bloodshot and glossy, and his speech was slurred.
The man said he had recently been released from jail for a weapon’s offense, and was on probation.
He failed multiple field sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test was administered, and the man had a blood-alcohol content of 0.15, nearly twice the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
The man was taken into custody, and the vehicle was impounded and towed. He was taken to the police station for booking, where he was held.
