TAYLOR — Two parked cars were hit by a drunken driver at 12:44 a.m. Nov 27 in the 26800 block of Leroy Street, after which the man ended up driving his car up onto a nearby lawn.

The driver, a 35-year-old Taylor man, struck a 2004 Ford Escape and a 2016 Ford F-150, and damaged his own car, a 2005 Chevy Malibu.

The man, who smelled of intoxicants, and whose eyes were glossy and bloodshot, said he had consumed three beers and two shots of bourbon.

He failed multiple field sobriety tests, and refused a preliminary breath test, so a search warrant was obtained for a blood draw.

The Malibu was impounded and towed, and the drunken driver was transported to Beaumont Hospital, Taylor, for a blood draw. He was then taken to the police station for booking, where his driver’s license was confiscated, and he was held.
