WYANDOTTE — A 25-year-old Southgate man was arrested for drunken driving at 1:47 a.m. Dec. 4 when a police officer saw him driving on northbound Fort Street without his headlights on and failing to maintain his lane position.
The driver, who said he had a few beers a few hours ago, smelled of intoxicants, had glossy eyes and his speech was slurred. He failed multiple field sobriety tests, and refused a preliminary breath test.
An open, half-empty bottle of Jameson whisky was found in his Chevy Silverado pickup, which was impounded and towed.
He was taken to the police station, where he vomited on the floor during booking.
A search warrant was obtained for a blood draw, and he was taken to Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital for the procedure, after which he was transported to the police station and held.
