TRENTON — More than $3,810 was charged on a credit card that was fraudulently opened in a resident’s name without his consent. Police spoke to the victim who said he received a Lenovo credit card bill in the mail from Genesis Credit Co. in the mail Dec. 14.

He said he hadn’t opened that line of credit and then immediately contacted the company to report the fraudulent activity; Genesis was able to freeze the account.

According to the report, the victim was not out any money and was also able to contact the credit bureau to report the activity.

The victim wanted to file the police report to provide it to the credit card company which will conduct its own investigation. Police provided the victim with the case number and identify theft information brochure.
