TAYLOR — Police arrested two students from Taylor High School — a 16-year-old male and 15-year-old female — in the most recent threats made.
Detective Lt. Marc Gaynier said both were transported to the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Center and the separate cases have been turned to the Juvenile Court Division.
The 16-year-old is believed to be responsible for the written shooting threat found in one of the schools bathrooms. The school was placed on lockdown for a short period of time Jan. 6.
Schools remained open for in-person learning Jan. 7 when a second threat allegedly was made by the 15-year-old which was posted on the social media app Snapchat.
Detectives from the Police Department took both students into custody. Gaynier said there have been multiple threats made by students at high school level — including ones that were not credible or with no intent of carrying out the threat.
The detectives are following up on and investigating each threat, he said.
School threats have increased since a fatal shooting at Oxford High School in November, which left four dead.
Wayne County Prosector Kym Worthy has announced charges in several additional similar cases in Wayne County, including two in Taylor.
