WYANDOTTE — Two men involved in a Jan. 20 hit-and-run crash landed in jail for drunken driving, leaving the scene of an accident and resisting and obstructing police officers.
A 22-year-old Wyandotte man crashed into a pillar, damaging his vehicle. He then switched seats with his passenger, a 26-year-old Lincoln Park man, and the two fled the scene.
However, as they were fleeing on Ford Avenue at a high rate of speed, they were spotted by police officers and a traffic stop was initiated.
The Lincoln Park man, exhibited signs of intoxication, and was arrested for operating while intoxicated and possession of cocaine. The Wyandotte man, was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, and, despite being argumentative, was released at the scene.
The Wyandotte man then walked to the Wyandotte police station from Ford Avenue and 23rd Street, and began yelling profanities, banging on the windows and arguing with the officer on duty. Despite repeated warnings to desist, he was finally arrested and held. He reportedly destroyed two different jail cells while detained, and six hours passed before he calmed down.
