TAYLOR — A 36-year-old Romulus man was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol at 2:16 a.m. Jan. 16, after he crashed into another vehicle on southbound Telegraph Road near I-94, and his white 2019 Cadillac CT6 was impounded.
The man admitted to having two beers earlier in the evening, but he smelled strongly of intoxicants; had slurred speech; glossy, bloodshot eyes; and could not keep his balance. He was unable to perform standardized field sobriety tests.
A preliminary breath test was administered, and the man had a blood alcohol content of 0.197, nearly two-and-a-half times the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
He was advised of his chemical test rights, and he consented to a blood draw at Beaumont Hospital, Taylor, after which he was transported to the police department, where he was booked and held.
