TRENTON — A patrol officer discovered a commercial building fire about 11 p.m. Feb. 7 in the 300 block of Fort Street, the site of Jim’s Garage and the former location of Grosse Ile Lawn Sprinkler.

He summoned the fire department to the scene, and blocked off northbound Jefferson Avenue traffic.

The building owner said everything was normal at the building when he left at 5:30 p.m. earlier that day.

DTE shut down the power to the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Trenton Fire Department.
