MELVINDALE — A stranger in a Carhartt jacket left a residential area March 8 after trying to open the locked screen door of a house in the 2500 block of Margaret Street.

The female resident, who immediately called police officers, said the stranger, a white male, was about 5 feet 11 inches tall and wearing a knit cap.

She was advised to keep all of her doors locked and to call police officers if the man returned.
