ALLEN PARK — A man who attempted to shoplift tools valued at more than $240 was arrested the night of April 25 at Home Depot, 3163 Fairlane Drive.
A loss prevention employee said the man, a repeat shoplifter, was recognized, and surveillance initiated, as he selected two socket sets, one wrench set, two ratchets and multiple sockets, which he concealed inside his jacket.
The man then exited the store through the self-checkout doors, where he was approached by loss prevention personnel. He surrendered the merchandise, but then fled on foot. Shortly afterward, police officers found him nearby, cited him for retail fraud, and advised him that he had been banned from the store.
