SOUTHGATE – An Ohio man was charged July 2 with enticing a minor for immoral purposes after he allegedly sent nude photos of himself to a 13-year-old Southgate girl over social media.
The man, Shawn P. Frances, 35, is a family friend of the victim. It is alleged that from June 1 to June 27, he sent nude photos of himself to her, while encouraging her to send nude photos of herself to him and to meet with him.
The girl’s mother contacted Southgate police officers after she discovered the photos and communications on her daughter’s phone, which resulted in his June 29 arrest.
Frances was arraigned in Detroit’s 36th District Court July 2, instead of in Southgate, because it was a weekend arraignment.
He received a $10,000, 10 percent bond, and must wear a GPS tether. On July 15 he will be back in court for a probable cause conference.
Soliciting a minor for immoral purposes is a four-year felony.
Frances is a corrections officer employed by the Michigan Department of Corrections.
