HEIGHTS – A Concert in the Park has been announced for 7 to 10 p.m. July 28 at Warren Valley Golf Course, 26116 W. Warren Road.

The concert theme will be “Margaritaville,” and will feature the Parrots of the Caribbean, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band. In addition to the live music, the free family-friendly event will feature food vendors, kids’ games, train rides, a kid’s tiki bar and face painting.

For the first time, a classic car show & contest will also take place, with awards given out to winning participants.

Parks and Recreation Director Kim Laurencelle suggests participants take a few simple steps to make their visit more enjoyable.

“Either folding chairs or blankets are a must, since there is no seating available,” she said. “Also, since we are in the midst of our hot weather season, folks may want to consider wearing sunscreen, as it stays pretty warm out there until late into the concert. And along with that, we hope everyone brings their Hawaiian shirt.”

“Based on the great success we enjoyed with our June 30 concert and motorcycle show, we’re looking forward to another fun, successful one this month,” Mayor Bill Bazzi said. “These concerts have proven to be very popular with both our residents, and residents of our neighboring communities, so I hope everyone comes out and has a safe an enjoyable time again.”

For more information on the event, contact the Dearborn Heights Parks and Recreation Department at 313-791-3600.
