LINCOLN PARK – The Seritage-owned former Sears site has been purchased by A.F. Jonna Development, Carl Malysz, Downtown Development Authority and Economic Development Corporation director said at the July 18 City Council meeting.

A.F. Jonna Development LLC of Bloomfield Hills has developed commercial and retail projects throughout southeast Michigan, including Eureka Crossings in Southgate and Allen West Center in Woodhaven.

Malysz said he is upbeat about the purchase.

“We were being told by the prior owner and the owner of the adjoining former mall property, Grand Sakwa, that the only market for the property was warehousing,” he said. “We are still waiting for a conceptual plan to show us what the company has in mind, and they have told us commercial/retail. Whew!”
