HEIGHTS — A con artist who initially posed as a Comcast representative called a 59-year-old Dearborn Heights man on Oct. 20 and gained access to his computer remotely, then threatened to sell his passwords and other identity information on the dark web if he didn’t pay $500 to them.

The victim refused, and said the caller sounded as if English was not his primary language.

He was advised to activate a fraud alert on his credit accounts.
