ALLEN PARK — Three Chevy steering wheels were stolen the first weekend of December from residential neighborhoods, with the airbags being the components most likely sought by the thieves.

On Dec. 2, the steering wheel was stolen from a 2017 Chevy Malibu parked in the 14000 block of University Street, on Dec. 3 from a 2020 Chevy Malibu parked in the 15000 block of Hanover Avenue, and on Dec. 3 from a Chevy parked in the 15000 block of Horger Avenue.

The windows were shattered on each Malibu, but not on the third Chevy. Each of the victims indicated that they had heard of other steering wheel thefts in their neighborhoods.
