SOUTHGATE — A resident who discovered the morning of March 11 that her car was ransacked and a phone charger stolen while it was parked overnight in her driveway, in the 15000 block of Churchill Street, turned in a lanyard with multiple keys to the police department that she found abandoned in her car.

Before turning in the keys, she discovered that one of them was for a nearby Chevy Silverado pickup.

When she turned the keys into the police department, she provided an address near where the pickup was parked.

A police officer contacted the owner of the vehicle, who said the it had been recently ransacked and a set of keys from the console were missing.

He said some of the keys on the surrendered lanyard did not belong to him, which he returned to the police officer.
