MELVINDALE — A black Toyota Camry was impounded and towed the evening of March 23 when a police officer’s scan of the license plate revealed that the vehicle was uninsured.

A traffic stop was initiated on Outer Drive near I-75, and the driver, who provided proof of the expired insurance, insisted that he had renewed his policy. However, a call to the insurance company indicated that the policy was suspended. He was told to contact 24th District Court for an appearance date.
