LINCOLN PARK — A would-be shoplifter abandoned a stolen Craftsman weed whacker, valued at $130, the morning of Aug. 6 and abandoned his Huffy bicycle outside Great Lakes Ace Hardware, 3584 Fort St., in his attempt to flee.
A store employee followed the man out of the store while yelling that he was stealing. The man handed the employee the weed whacker and rode his bicycle through the alley behind the store, before ditching it and disappearing on foot. The bicycle was not listed in the Law Enforcement Information Network as stolen.
A store employee said any surveillance footage of the man inside the store would be forwarded to the police detective bureau.
