MELVINDALE — Three men who tried to hot-wire a Kia the afternoon of Dec. 16 in the 18600 block of Wood Street finally gave up in defeat and left the location on foot.

The incident, which was captured on a Ring doorbell camera, showed three men trying to pry open two of the car doors, leaving pry marks on the vehicle and damaging a door handle, before they broke a window to gain entry.

One of the ill-fated thieves broke the steering column but was unable to start the car.
