RIVERVIEW — Police officers who were first on the scene rescued a woman from a house fire in the 11200 block of Sibley Road on New Year’s Day.

When the officers arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the house, and were informed a woman was within. They found her unconscious in the kitchen at the rear of the house, with severe burns to her head, neck and arms. She later said the fire started while she was cooking.

After police officers removed her from the house, they helped arriving firefighters perform first aid before she was taken by ambulance to Corewell Health Trenton Hospital.
